- Books that meet curricular needs
- Books for recreational reading
- Professional literature for teachers
- CD-ROMS that are used in the library or checked out
and relate to curricular needs

- On-line services and databases
- Periodicals for information and recreational reading

collection:
A school Library Media Teacher should catalog and
process the materials
- Most K-12 libraries are organized using the Dewey
Decimal system and either Sears
or Library of Congress Subject
headings
- Processing books includes receiving and checking,
covering, applying labels and stamps, and shelving
- Housing books - Is there adequate shelving and is it
at an appropriate height for the patrons?
