The Library Media Teacher provides access to the local collection, to on-line and CD-rom periodical indexes, to the World Wide Web, and to other libraries through interlibrary loan.

Library Automation includes On-line Public Access Catalog (OPAC)

• Is the OPAC available in every room of the school through the school's LAN?
• Is the OPAC available on the World Wide Web to students at home?
• Are students and staff trained in its use?

Periodical indexes and databases

• Does the library subscribe to full-text periodical indexes on line or on CD-rom?
• Does the library subscribe to information databases designed for students?
• Are these databases available in every room of the school through the school's LAN?

Reference

• Does the LMT provide reference service to students and staff?
• Does the library own/subcribe to both print and non-print Encyclopedias, Almanacs, and general curricular resources?

World Wide Web

• Does the library have enough computers that are connected to the Internet for searching?
• Is the LMT trained in helping students search  the Internet?
• Is there adequate staff in the library to monitor student activity?
• Does the LMT bookmark or create web pages on subjects that students need?

Interlibrary loan

• Is the school a member of a larger network of libraries from which it can borrow items?

Access to computers for students

• Are there computers in the library so students can do their research and work on papers or projects?
• Is the library large enough to contain computers and quiet study areas?
• Is the LMT trained in and able to teach students computer use?

Open hours - Are there enough people working in the library to have it open 

• Before and after school hours, lunch, and recesses?
• At least a week before school starts and after the last day?
